My Brother's Keeper

Compassion Meets Practical Needs

My Brother’s Keeper is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families in need throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. Since 1988, the organization has provided essential items like furniture and food to thousands of households, ensuring families can live in dignity, comfort, and security. While My Brother’s Keeper meets practical needs, its deeper goal is to reflect a message of compassion and care, driven by its belief in serving others with love and respect.

Comprehensive Support Programs

My Brother’s Keeper provides a wide range of services to struggling families, focusing on three core programs:

Furniture Assistance

Many families lack basic household items such as beds, tables, and chairs. My Brother’s Keeper delivers over 12,000 pieces of furniture to more than 2,800 homes each year. This program ensures that families can enjoy a safe, functional living space, helping create a stable environment for children and adults, complete with dressers, lamps, and kitchen supplies.

Food Assistance

My Brother’s Keeper also addresses food insecurity by delivering more than 10,000 food boxes to 3,000 households annually. Each box contains fresh produce, meats, and non-perishable items, providing families with a balanced selection of groceries. This service is especially important for families unable to access local food pantries due to transportation or other barriers.

Christmas Assistance Program

The holidays can be a particularly challenging time for families in financial distress. My Brother’s Keeper spreads holiday joy by delivering personalized gifts and Christmas dinner essentials to over 3,000 families each year. Volunteers hand-select gifts for children and provide everything needed for a traditional holiday meal. This program offers struggling families the chance to celebrate without the worry of how they will afford gifts or foods.

A Volunteer-Driven Mission

Volunteers are at the heart of My Brother’s Keeper, with over 4,000 individuals contributing their time each year. These volunteers deliver furniture, pack food boxes, and provide personal support to families, helping to create meaningful connections between the organization and the people it serves. Volunteers range from individuals and families to school groups and church communities, all coming together to help those in need.

Corey C. Griffin Foundation's Impact

The Foundation has been instrumental in helping My Brother’s Keeper expand its reach and impact. Through financial support and active volunteer participation, the Foundation has enabled the organization to serve more families, particularly during the busy holiday season. The Foundation’s involvement has also helped enhance the Christmas Assistance Program, ensuring more children receive personalized gifts and families enjoy a festive meal.

A Mission Rooted in Service

At its core, My Brother’s Keeper is a faith-based organization, motivated by the belief that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion. While the organization provides practical help, its mission is also to offer families hope and love, reflecting its Christian values in every delivery. My Brother’s Keeper seeks to serve all people, regardless of background or faith, with the belief that acts of kindness and service can uplift individuals and strengthen communities.

Looking Ahead

As the need for assistance grows across Southeastern Massachusetts, My Brother’s Keeper remains committed to expanding its services. With continued support from the Corey C. Griffin Foundation and other community partners, the organization will be able to reach even more families, delivering essential goods and offering hope to those in need.
