PAL of Massachusetts (formerly Boston Police Activities League) is a nonprofit organization focused on building trust between youth and law enforcement through mentorship, education, and recreational activities. By creating positive, supportive relationships, PAL helps young people build confidence and develop life skills while promoting safer communities. Through its range of programs, PAL empowers youth to make positive life choices and fosters understanding between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
PAL’s core mission is to create opportunities for young people to engage with law enforcement in meaningful, productive ways. Programs emphasize mentorship, character development, and physical activity, giving youth a platform to connect with police officers while building crucial skills for their future.
Officers serve as role models and mentors, helping youth develop confidence, leadership, and trust. Through structured mentorship, PAL fosters positive relationships between young people and law enforcement.
PAL runs sports leagues where officers coach and mentor participants. Through basketball, soccer, and other activities, youth learn teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
PAL’s after-school programs and leadership workshops offer students academic support while developing social skills and emotional intelligence.
The Corey C. Griffin Foundation has been a critical partner in expanding PAL’s reach and enhancing its programs. Through financial backing and active engagement, the Foundation has helped PAL grow initiatives like the ChangeMakers program in Lawrence, which serves middle and high school students in one of the state’s most economically challenged cities.
The six-month ChangeMakers program provides mentorship, sports, and after-school activities led by law enforcement officers. With support from the Foundation, the program focuses on empowering at-risk youth, building their leadership skills, and fostering trust with police officers.
The Foundation’s contributions allow PAL to:
PAL’s programs are making a measurable difference by reducing crime, improving school attendance, and fostering stronger communities. By offering youth positive role models and engaging activities, PAL gives them the skills to make healthier choices while building bridges with law enforcement.
Thanks to the Corey C. Griffin Foundation’s support, PAL has been able to expand programs like ChangeMakers in underserved areas, providing vital opportunities to youth who need them most.
As PAL of Massachusetts continues to grow, its mission remains focused on expanding programs and reaching more youth across the state. With ongoing support from the Corey C. Griffin Foundation, PAL is poised to impact even more young lives, helping create safer, more connected communities through positive youth development and law enforcement partnerships.
